Well its amazing to me that end of year assessment and exhibition is coming up soon. Between today and mid November I've got plenty of work to complete and I'm already looking forward to further development of projects beyond end of semester. My career is almost beginning. I'm really loving my life right now, especially my art and working with students and staff at Queensland College of Art.
I was fortunate to attend an "Art in politics: politics in Art" conference on Friday. Public art in Brisbane was one of the topics discussed and it was very interesting. As an artist I have a strong desire to create work that will be installed in the public domain.
The cement cloud I've been working on is still is embryo stage as it's been a very stubborn cloud but I'm making headway on it now. I think expectation on myself has stifled my production of the cloud and concern about having a work suitable to present to Guan Wei.
By contrast the wooden fish are coming along swimmingly. My latest development is wooden lotus mandala puzzles which I'm planning to develop on a larger scale.

I discovered the webpage of April, and artist who has set up a terrific webpage with awesome art and excellent step by step process of sculpting, an extremely useful resource. I aim to have a similar web page with my own work and process someday (soon).

Yesterday I had my critique for my sculpture elective and I feel happy that the critique was successful. Phew! I'm glad that's over- I stress so much over assessments.
My digital camera is broken so I need to buy or borrow a camera to continue my documentation of my sculpture process.

My fish took a trip to the beach at Lota, my fish feels at home in the smelly mud, shallow tidal water and mangroves. Instead of being cute my fish was almost menacing.

Large temple size Mokugyo in Japan. Buddha fish drum traditionally made from Camphor wood
Midnight and I'm researching my fishies on Google and serendipity and luck bring me to this Buddhist fish drum. A student at QCA saw my cement fish and told me she made one of these drums from clay. I'm thrilled that there's a Buddha connection again to the work I'm doing.

My anxiety builds as my return to my final semester at University looms.
The good news is I'm doing a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Sculpture and Intermedia. Sculpture's more fun than accounting though considering my mismanagement of finances accounting could be important for me. I digress,
Time for me to build a body of work to exhibit in the graduate exhibition, time to find work experience to set me up for a career after Uni, time to look at the work I've done up to now and learn more about myself.
